Preparations for the Journey

Preparations

I work a full-time job as a landscape architect and a federal military planner / urban planner. I have plenty of things to do during the 5 workdays that dictate my life for me. When I am on the bike., I am free, and I live and ride that way. My friends make fun of me because they are always asking, “How long will this ride take?”. My answer is typically, “not too long’. It could be a 12-hour ride hitting 3 states. I don’t care about time when my butt is in the saddle. I think they are slowly learning to not ask me about “TIME”. I am not interested in it at all when the ride starts. I only care about the next mile that I can ride, one after another, after another, after another. It will simply take as long as it takes, and for me that is the best part.

Evernote

Evernote it and forget it!”

I love using the Evernote App. It is a

Laconia Evernote Folders

Here are the folders that I created in evernote so that we can begin to have everything we need in one location. The best part about evernote is that you can drag in almost anyfile and save it right in the notebook, i.e. pdf, jpg, word, excel, etc.

I can also do internal links from one to another. I can drag website links in also.

Some other information that I pulled in and saved in Evernote are things like:

  • My packing list & To-Do Lists
  • Helment Laws per State
  • H-D Dealers along the East Coast
  • Laconia and Nova Scotia 30-Day weather predictions
  • Freeman maps that I may want to reference while in the NE

REVER

If you REV it, REVER it!”

I have all the rides planned in REVER. They are made public on my REVER page if you are interested in looking at them. I know that these are not set in stone. We will pick them apart and ride them as sections as it works for us while in Laconia. However, the routes “riding to a destination” are all off road. I am hoping that we can stick close to that schedule and stay off highways (Interstates). If we happen to fall behind and need to make up time, we will probably hit the highway at that time. I tried to keep most the rides around 300-400 miles a day or less.

Email me at bikerbabemountainrider@gmail.com to connect on REVER! I love growing my contacts, making new friends, and having a larger community in the motorbike world! ❤

If you are looking at the itinerary, there are screen shots of maps at the top of each day. Those are “at a glance” images of the planned REVER ride for that day. I also matched the file name to the day on the itinerary as it is called in the REVER app.

The Itenerary

I have found that EVERNOTE is the tool that I use to do this for me. I use it in my personal, work, and riding life. I will have all my folders downloaded to my phone so it will work even without service. From these images you see below, there are links to maps, receipts, websites, anything that I want to have access to at one glance. I love it. Just LOVE IT!

This is a snapshot of our first five days on the ‘plan’. With this being shown, I am realistic, I know that maybe only 20% of this plan will happen when we hit the road. The goal for this is to not have to think so hard when I am actually ‘on my vacation’ if you will. I am pretty adamant about having the knowledge that I need on han, and not having to remember it all and being able to access it quickly if I need.

Week 1

The gray color is designated to be the days that we are riding (to destination). In this we will be riding north, scenic, and twisty route of course, to our designation for a week’s time in Laconia, NH. We will arrive in Laconia on Sunday, June 11th. We are staying at The Mountain Club on Loon Resort. It is right off the Kancamagus Hwy just east of Lincoln, NH. I am excited that we will be right in the White Mountains. It is a little north of the rally, but I think prefer that – I am more of a rider than a partier anyways. This will also raise my opportunity to seeing more than just the Moose’s BUTT. That is all that I have seen of a moose. I want the whole thing to be in sight at least once on this trip.

Week 1

Week 2

This week we will be scheduled to be at the 100th Annual Laconia Motorcycle Rally the days in pink. I have planned out some really good rides. I used the New England Riders pages and REVER roads as go bys to create our rides. As mentioned earlier, I am sure we will pick and choose and change up days of when the rides are actually happening but at least all we have to do is modify instead of create, map, and technical creation while we are at the rally. The pink days below are designated for the time spent in Laconia and the orange will be the two days that we will be in Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.
