5/11 The REVER Ride

175 Total Miles. One of my best friends was down for Minnesota. Another one was in Florida, and he was from Minnesota too! These two Minnesotans’s had never met, but we were going to change all of that in Georgia. We all got together and rode around for a nice weekend in the mountains. We rode around Gatlinburg, Wears Valley, and Pigeon Forge. It was so good to see my friends from up north!

The Ride to Meet Tracy and Ann
Pup, Pawlie, and I got up early and headed up to the mountains. We stopped to grab a bite to eat for breakfast. We could tell that it was going to be a pretty day! These two dudes together are a little too much to take! They are hilarious!!
There were also a lot of pretty cars out on the road that morning too. I had to get a couple of snapshots of them!

Cherohola Skyway
We met up with Ann and Tracy in Robbinsville, and then headed towards The Cherahola Skyway. The plan was to ride the Skyway. Then we would hit the foothills cut through the Gatlinburg area over Clingman’s Dome. Finally, we would end up in Cherokee for the night. The three of them would ride back together on Sunday, and then pup and I would head home that morning.

Time to Smile again!!

Hitting the Foothills Parkway
The foothills were really pretty. We decided to stop by the Maryville Harley Davidson to grab a bite to eat. We also let them check out some stuff there. So we came back and hit the Foothills Parkway off 411, around the middle of it. And then rode from there to Wears Valley.

A River Pause . . .
We cut through a tertiary road after coming off the foothills. The road comes out over towards Wears Valley area. This road was highlighted on REVER and I just picked it. It was a great road, and I will be hitting it in the future too! We rode along the river for a while. It was really pretty, all of that was shady and it was just a good little curvy ride. We stopped for a good picture moment and then headed on towards Clingman’s Dome. This was a great road and I loved riding on both sides of the mountain that we topped. Hitting it again in the future!

Out of Towner’s on Clingman’s Dome
Grabbing a few shots of some cool, perspectives and vistas and each other on top of Clingman’s Dome! It got a little cooler up on top as it always does!

Coming into Cherokee NC
We had to stop at the bottom of the mountain at Cherokee, North Carolina. The Minnesota’s wanted to check out the elk grazing just off the road. We actually got some pretty good pictures! There was one really close to us and everyone enjoyed watching them in nature. There were a few that were along the side of the road between Gatlinburg, TN and Cherokee, NC. The were fine, but the cars going so slow and stopping LITERALLY right beside them made me a little nervous!

Daily Event Section Heading
Sunday morning we woke up and gathered our things to load the bikes. We realized Pawlie had already taken off to meet up with Ann and Tracy to head back north. They were going to ride the majority of the day Sunday. They would then finish it out on Monday, reaching the Minneapolis area.
Jason and I loaded up the bikes. Then we headed right down the street to Peter’s Pancakes. We enjoyed a good ole mountain breakfast! It was quite pricey for what we ordered. You could get the same thing from Waffle House for less, but overall we had a great weekend.
