Natchez Trace Parkway, Here We Come!
I have created several posts about the Natchez Trace Parkway here lately. I have been doing tons of research on what things were along this byway that we could begin to consider stopping at and see. I have heard over and over that this ride is not all that great, but I am anxious to find out for myself. I am one that loves the mountains, but hey, everyone needs to change things up once and a while. I have also heard that there is not that much to see along the Trace, but I have compiled a really long list. Some of the stops are along the Trace, some are collected from the Guidebooks, and the rest are some that I came across while looking around the area. No one ever mentions that all these other things are so close to the Trace! I had a lot of fun looking for these other sites around the Trace and even if I don’t make them this trip, some of them will remain on the bucket list! Some of the extras include:
- Johnny Cash’s Black Cadillac
- Rattlesnake Saloon
- Lynyrd Skynyrd Memorial Site
- Frank Llyod Wright Rosenbaum House
- The Mississippi River Basin Model
- Elvis’s Birthplace
- Robert Johnson’s childhood home
I can’t wait to see what stops we decided to make and what we don’t, and what stops we have time for and what stops we don’t!
Check out the Research posts that were done before leaving for the trip below. I think that from the research alone, there are plenty of things to see we are probably going to have to cut some items out to maintain ride time. That is fine. I typically do all the research I can ahead of time so that I only must make decisions while on the road. I can stick to the plan as much or as little as I want to for that day.
So, the ride is about to start, and those posts will be put up as I get them completed. We are leaving this evening and riding for the next four days. Stay Tuned! They will come as posts, but this is the cover page for the whole trips and will be saved under the “My Trips!” tab on the blog.
Riding Days!
After several months of planning, we are about to head out and I am ready to roll. I never thought that I would be so excited about riding the Natchez Trace, but I am. I think it is because I did not realize all that there is to see along the way! The plan is to post each day, but I tend to get behind, so we will see how it goes!
The Iron Angel’s “Riding Plans” or options!
This shows how I laid out our routes, the waypoints along Trace, the research that I did for places to eat for breakfast, coffee lunch, and dinner meals, and I even researched dessert locations. I sent out several pages of research that the girls could review. Then I sent out a questionnaire with a list of waypoints and other items that they could say they wanted to stop and see if they wanted along the way. That way we were sure not to miss out on anyone’s sites!
DAYS 1 – 5 Riding “PLANS”

Post Date: May 9, 2024
Our final plan is below that we are going to pick and choose from along the way. Some of us are trying out camping and some are just going to stay in hotels along the way. We have done research on just about everything; so much research in fact that we are likely going to have to mark things off the list because we will not have enough time!
The Research
Below are all the posts containing the research that I did before putting together our riding plans. I think some of the girls looked through a lot of the post, and had an idea of what the trip was going to be before we ever set out. And then you have Krystal, who was trying to figure out what state she was in for the first three days!
I hope some of this research helps others look and explore more opportunities as you ride in the Trace, I think you need a good week to hit the ones that we plan to, we only got down to Jackson before we had to start heading back. We’re going to pick it back up this fall and I’ll be adding those Riding Day Posts then.
