NGMR 1st Saturday Ride – Hiawassee, GA Hawg Wild

The AM Rush

We got up at 7 AM this morning, thinking that that would be enough time to have a smooth, nonchalant, way out the door.

Shenie had to go to the vet on Friday, so we had to do some medicine treatments for her before we headed out. 

The Checkout Ride

Ron Ciccarone lead us on the ride! It was a great route!

The main group took a different direction than that we did on the checkout ride. We ended up going through Dahlonega back roads, over Richard B Russell, Mountain, and then coming in the back way to hogwild from the direction of Clayton Georgia.

Alexander’s Store

Ron was telling me about this Store, and he said he would point it out as we drove by. It was one that I have not been in yet, and he said it was worth a stop. So that’s the plan! I had to document it so that I wouldn’t forget about it and I would be able to go back and visit! He said they have everything but food!

Hawg Wild BBQ, Hiawassee Georgia 

Here they come up the hill pulling into Hawg Wild! The food was great and everyone left good and full!

Riding with the Group

We had talked with Mike and we were going to ride with everybody over to the cider house in Ellijay. So the group all left together when we got to the other side of Blairsville, there was a split off, and I totally got confused! Some of the group continued going towards Ellijay on the four-lane and then some cut off and went on 76.

I turned with the group, but when I looked ahead, I Isu and Dick leading the group, instead of Mike & Julie. Therefore, I just assumed that they had turned off with the other group, so I did a u-turn! Puppy said that we should’ve stayed with the main group like we were with on the turn!

I guess I am having to relearn how to be a good follower! Sorry that I got confused and followed the wrong group!!

As we were heading back after we got off on an Ellijay and headed towards Cumming pups tank ended up on reserve, so we had to find some gas pretty quick. We left the last two riders hit the gas station and then circled back to the other Cider House. Got us a basket of peaches!

The Old School Boys on their Old School Harley’s!!

There were a group of old school riders! Every one of them kickstarted their bikes and every one of them had on the vintage helmets.

It was a nice ride overall. Puppy and I are looking forward to riding with the main group now!

Finishing out the day!

Got home. Picked up the baby and headed out to run some adult errands. She makes those better by just coming along with us!
