I had the pleasure to host a biker passing through heading back to Memphis from south Florida. He went to Florida to watch his daughter’s musical performance.
Jeff was awesome to host. He reached out to me the day before and made arrangements. I try to get back to folks pretty quickly so that they will can lock in their plans. Having stayed with Bunk-A-Biker people on my personal trips, I know that it is hard to keep up with messaging back and forth while riding the bike at the same time!
Jeff was super nice. He got there a little later than anticipated due to bad weather! It played out just fine because he was able to eat some dinner with us too! I made some homemade pizzas. I have been on a sourdough kick of late and that was what we got to eat! I need to get rid of some of my discard!
When he arrived we parked him in the garage, showed him around his room and the other spaces in the house, fed him a little bite to eat then started talking about roads!
He headed this way with the plan to hit the Tail of the Dragon. I told him to go to the Dragon by hitting Two Wheels of Suches and the heading over the Cherohala Skyway. I was not sure if would have enough time to hit all those and the blast offer to Oakland TN.
I messaged him later on and he did it! Made it back to his house by 9:30 pm and he was able to hit all the roads. He said he had some fog in the AM, which reduced a lot of the visibility moving through Suches and over the Skyway but there was also less traffic during those early hours too! I guess like everything else in life, sometime it is just a straight trade!
It was an honor to be able to host you Jeff and I hope we cross paths again in the future! Take care, brother and ride safe! BLAST often!!
